Join us at the Telegraph Outdoor Adventure and Travel Show this week

10 February 2015

Looking for the ultimate adventure which won’t be found on the average person’s bucket list?

Regarded as one of the toughest endurance challenges on the planet, we are celebrating our thirst for adventure at the Telegraph Outdoor Adventure and Travel Show later this week.

Running from Thursday 12 to Sunday 15 February at London’s Excel Centre, join us and speak to our intrepid race crew to find out first-hand how you can race around the world on a 70-foot ocean racing yacht – no experience necessary.

The UK’s largest exhibition for adventurous people has six zones of activities from climbing to on-the-water and adventure travel. We will be hosting the Adventure Travel stage with inspirational speakers throughout the week including our very own Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, Crew Recruitment Manager Della Parsons, Rob Lewis , former Royal Marine and co-founder of our Learning and Development partner Mission Performance and alumni crew member Tom Salt.

Tom, a 31 year-old Management Consultant from Chichester, UK will talk about his experience of the 2009-10 Race and how only four years later, it led him to win the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge. Rowing with his fellow Clipper Race team mate Mike Burton, the duo beat the nearest team by seven days.

Ahead of his talk, Tom says: "Rowing the Atlantic was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. It’s mind over matter, and preparation is everything. Having never sat in a rowing boat before I signed up to do the Clipper Race, and to go onto win the race by a week, I hope that my story will inspire people who think that something is so far out of their reach to go out and give it a try."

People from all walks of life, spanning 39 different countries, have already signed up for 2015-16 edition of the race starting on 30 August. The race is now more than 80 per cent full, but there are still places left on the full circumnavigation and most legs. We are now also recruiting for the 2017-18 edition.

Previous sailing experience is not necessary as full training will be provided, but you do have to be aged 18 or above by the time the race starts.

Keep an eye out on our facebook and twitter pages for daily opportunities to win a show ticket when you share our Telegraph Travel Show status updates.
