This weekend: Open boats in Portsmouth

20 May 2017

This weekend in celebration of Crew Allocation, the first major event in the racing calendar that sees more than 400 crew members from more than 40 nationalities across the globe gather to discover which skipper will lead them around the world, we are offering the opportunity to take a look around their homes for the next eleven months.

Join us in Gunwharf Quays marina to meet the race team, and receive a personal, free yacht tour on board a Clipper 70 from crew members who have previously competed in this unique adventure.

Saturday 20 May - 09:00 - 19:00

Sunday 21 May -
09.00 – 16.00

Where: Gunwharf Quays Marina (opposite All Bar One and the Slug and Lettuce)

Our twelve Clipper 70s make up the world’s largest fleet of matched design ocean racing yachts. Specially built to take on Mother Nature’s toughest conditions as they circumnavigate the globe, these yachts are built for speed, not comfort.

No previous sailing experience is needed to take part as we provide full training, and up to 40 per cent of our crew members have never sailed before they sign up for the race. The only qualifications participants need is a good level of fitness, to be aged 18 or over and possess a thirst for adventure into the unknown.

The Clipper 2017-18 Race starts from Liverpool on Sunday 20 August.

If you would like to join our intrepid crew, there are limited places available on the Clipper 2017-18 Race and we are now recruiting for the 2019-20 edition. To apply, click here.
