The Northern Irish city of Derry~Londonderry is one of the most-anticipated Stopovers on the race, with the many lively pubs, exciting live-music scene, and plenty of 'craic’ delighting crews for the last four editions. But what makes Derry~Londonderry truly special is the Foyle Maritime Festival, which will be returning in 2020.

The lively pubs and exciting live-music scene makes Derry~Londonderry one of the most anticipated stopovers on the race, but what makes the visit truly special is the Foyle Maritime Festival, which will be returning in 2020.

The Foyle Maritime Festival will run for nine consecutive days and will transform the Foyle Port into an international marina visited by thousands of people daily. Visitors will be spoiled by the packed programme of water activities, boat tours, food stalls, and music and theatre performances, with the event culminating in a breathtaking showcase event on the River Foyle.

As Ireland’s only completely walled city, Derry~Londonderry will be celebrating Walls 400, to celebrate 400 years since the completion of the walls, until March 2020. A walk of the walls is a must-do for any visit to Derry~Londonderry, with a tour also a chance to view both the historic murals of Bogside and the new artwork paying tribute to show ‘Derry Girls’.

Derry~Londonderry is known as the Gateway to the Northwest and is famous for the dramatic land and seascapes within its hinterland, many of which have been the backdrop to films and tv shows including Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Game of Thrones. The region also features several championship golf courses and the Giants Causeway UNESCO World Heritage Site.
