ABOUT LIVERPOOL

Liverpool is a city like no other. From world famous architecture, magnificent museums, to music legends revolutionising popular culture, Liverpool is a city that attracts millions of visitors every year with culture and creativity in its DNA.

With more than its fair share of vibrant theatres and cutting-edge galleries, cuisine from every corner of the world, bars and pubs that buzz with life and entertainment, an unrivalled music scene and a sporting reputation to rival any city in the world, Liverpool continues to be a gateway for UK culture.

Dubbed the jewel in the crown of Liverpool's waterfront, the award-winning Royal Albert Dock Liverpool, which was designed by Jesse Hartley and Philip Hardwick, mixes rich maritime legacy with modern attractions. Dating back over 175 years to 1839, its lofty colonnades and statuesque columns make up the largest group of Grade I listed buildings in the country.

Today, Royal Albert Dock Liverpool is one of Britain's top tourist attractions. It is the place to play, to see, to eat, drink and stay. Blending old and new, it's contemporary yet cultured, fun and friendly and currently home to a variety of museums, restaurants, bars and attractions.

A decade after becoming the first Northern port to host the Clipper Race, Liverpool hosted an incredible send off for the Clipper Race fleet, which generated £7.5m boost to the city's local economy, on 20 August 2017 and is preparing to welcome the fleet back on Saturday 28 July

On 28 July 2018, the Clipper 2017-18 Round the World Yacht Race will be reaching a thrilling climax as the fleet sprints up the River Mersey in a spectacular first-time crowd-facing finale which will conclude outside the historic Royal Albert Dock Liverpool, UK.

After racing some 40,000 nautical miles around the globe, the exhilarating power sprint finish will offer up to three bonus race points which will be added to the teams’ overall points tally. The sprint could determine the overall Clipper 2017-18 Race finish positions for the coveted Clipper Race Cup.
